Thousands of people in the United States start abusing opioid pain meds each day. Opioid drugs work by binding to opioid receptors in the brain, spinal cord and other areas of the body. They reduce the sending of pain messages to the brain and reduce the feelings of pain which can be harmful or even fatal.
Most healthcare providers are required to be licensed to work in Nevada. All healthcare providers who prescribe controlled substances and medications are required to be licensed by a State of Nevada licensing board. These Boards also ensure that the licensees of each board are practicing within their relevant statutes and regulations. These Boards have the statutory authority to take disciplinary action against their licensees if they are acting inappropriately.
